DEBUNKING HAIR TRANSPLANT MYTHS

Hair loss can take a significant toll on a person. Whenever we start to experience hair loss, we try almost everything we can to restore them. Often, the topical treatments don’t work. The only way to go about fixing hair on your head is by undergoing a hair transplant procedure. FUE Toronto is one of the most popular hair transplant procedures. In this method, grafts are extracted from parts of the scalp and relocated to give you a fuller head. Even though this procedure is a popular choice, multiple myths surround it. We are here to bust those myths and help you to make an informed choice about the same.

  • Hair Transplant is not suitable for elderly individuals.

Hair transplant works wonderfully for anyone who wants to have a head full of hair, provided they have enough healthy hair follicles. Age is not a barrier. When the surgeon is planning your hair transplant, they will consider your age, overall health, nature of the hair loss, and your expectations out of the procedure. If you are generally in good health with enough healthy follicles, you can consider undergoing this procedure. However, because you aren’t fit for the procedure, the surgeon will let you know the same along with the reason.

  • Hair transplant is only for men.

Men and women experience hair loss differently. Women experience hair thinning, whereas men experience male-pattern baldness. There is a common myth that hair transplant is only for men. However, the FUE procedure works just as well for women as it does for men. But it can be time-consuming as the hair thinning is diffused throughout the scalp, and the balding is not localized to one area.

  • You will see results immediately.

The truth is that three weeks after the procedure, the hair follicles which have been grafted are going to fall off. But you don’t have to worry about that. The follicles are now adjusting to their new area, and this fall is only natural. In the coming months, the hair will begin to grow back again. You will be able to see strands coming in after around three months of the transplant. The growth might be patchy in the beginning. But approximately around the eight-month, you would be able to see thicker and dense hair growing in. You would be fully able to enjoy the true results almost a year after the procedure. This is because hair growth is a slow and steady process, and one needs to be patient when undergoing a hair transplant.

  • Frequent hair washing after the transplant can cause more hair loss.

After the procedure, you will have to follow certain restrictions, including not washing hair for about five days. On the first day, you will have to gently clean the scalp with cool and clean water without shampoo. After about 3 to 4 months, you can wash, condition, cut, and style your hair. The new hair growth will be vital and strong.
